Moritzburg Festival

W skrócie

A lively spirit of innovation, musical dynamism and fascinating venues characterize the unique atmosphere of the Moritzburg Festival.

Founded in 1993 by Kai Vogler, Peter Bruns and Jan Vogler in the style of the famous "Marlboro Festival" (USA), the Moritzburg Festival sees itself as both an experimental laboratory and a place of excellence. Under the artistic direction of cellist Jan Vogler, it has established itself as one of the most renowned chamber music festivals in the world.

In its 34th year, the Moritzburg Festival for Chamber Music will focus on musical river landscapes from August 7 to 23, 2026. From the Elbe to the Seine, the Neva to the Hudson River and the Mississippi, audiences can travel around the world of chamber music in the 20 events. Artistic Director Jan Vogler has invited 23 international soloists of all generations to lend musical color to the landscapes in changing ensembles. The audience can look forward to a reunion with Nils Mönkemeyer, Andrei Ionita, Albrecht Mayer, Lise de la Salle, Guido Sant'Anna, Julian Bliss as well as Mira Wang, Kai Vogler and Jan Vogler. A new format is Carte Blanche, in which festival musicians select their personal favorite works. The matinee concerts in the beautiful Reichenberg church will be held for a second time.

The highlight of this year's Moritzburg Festival Academy is the orchestral concert "Alles im Fluss" on August 22 at the Kulturpalast Dresden, where the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra will perform Mozart's Concerto for Oboe & Orchestra in F major as well as Smetana's "Die Moldau", Wagner's "Gesang der Rheintöchter" and Schumann's Symphony No. 3 in E flat major "Rheinische Sinfonie" under the direction of its chief conductor Josep Caballé Domenech and with oboist Albrecht Mayer.

The festival takes place at various venues, such as Moritzburg Castle and the Kulturpalast Dresden.
