To celebrate Albert Lortzing, the Lortzing 26 Festival will take place at Leipzig Opera from April 24 to May 3, 2026.
This romantic magic opera in four acts tells the story of a love affair to the death. Undine, a female water creature and the adopted daughter of an old married couple, must marry an earthly man in order to gain an immortal soul. However, if her love is betrayed, she must kill the unfaithful man and return to her water.
