Village walk

We begin our walk at the House of the Guest. Here you will find the tourist information, the community library, and the local history room with cobbler's and wheelwright's workshops. We turn left towards Oberdorf; after about 40m on the right side is the cafe "Brumme". In the lovingly restored Umgebindehaus, the cafe offers the finest confectionery products. After a possible stop, we head back to the lower part of the village and pass the house on the right, Hauptstraße No. 57. This house presents itself in pure style; its log room is one of the few still preserved in original condition in the village. Our path leads us past smaller Umgebinde houses built as semi-detached houses on both sides. These houses demonstrate how densely the former religious refugees settled here as home weavers after 1720. We then proceed directly to the smallest and oldest Umgebindehaus in the village, the museum "Schunkelhaus", built in 1730 on 90 m², located on the left side of the main street. Via Kirchgasse we approach the baroque village church built in the 17th century. Of particular value are the gallery paintings, the altar, Bohemian crystal chandeliers, and the 30-voice organ. From Kirchberg we return and turn right towards Bahnhofstraße and reach the main street where, on the right, we find the parish office. This factor's house built in 1790 with its originally preserved log room and a very beautiful entrance hall with a rib vault we leave heading towards Unterdorf and arrive at the "House of the Senses", a shop and cafe in an Umgebindehaus. Here you will find small extras around chocolate, coffee, and wine as well as suitable decorations in silk, wood, and glass with rural charm. Our path now leads us back to our starting point, the tourist information.
