All routes named "Way of St. James" in Europe lead to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain to the grave of Saint James the Greater. The Saxon Way of St. James follows the medieval Franconian Road from Bautzen to Hof. The foothills of the Ore Mountains are crossed by the route in its middle section, covering 92.2 kilometers from Freiberg via Chemnitz to Zwickau.
