The Saxon Way of St. James along the medieval Franconian Road was opened in June 2013.
It is continuously marked with the European waymark and well supplied with pilgrim accommodations. On the pilgrimage route, you pass Waldkirchen, the Perlaser Tower near Treuen, Voigtsberg Castle in Oelsnitz, the fortified church in Triebel, before then reaching Franconia at the tri-border area near Prex.

You can reach Zwickau via the A 72 Hof-Chemnitz or from the direction of Altenburg/Meerane via the B 93.
You can reach Zwickau by the Central German Regiobahn on the Hof-Dresden route, by S-Bahn from Halle/Leipzig, or by Vogtlandbahn from Plauen or Klingenthal/Kraslice. Information is available from the Vogtland Tourism and Transport Center at www.vogtlandauskunft.de or by phone at 03744 19449.

Since spring 2018 there is a new pilgrim guide that also includes all new Ways of St. James in the Ore Mountains/Vogtland. The main route is described starting from Freiberg.
