In the highest region of the Free State of Saxony, the “Saxon Low Mountains” long-distance bike trail also reveals a wide variety of scenery: Nature lovers will be enchanted by the idyllic forests and mountain meadows, floodplains, and river valleys. Art and culture enthusiasts, on the other hand, will be fascinated by the traditional craftsmanship and the numerous historical landmarks. The route is exciting and varied, stretching from Plauen along the Vogtland, the Elster Mountains, the Ore Mountains, Saxon Switzerland, the Lusatian Highlands, and the Zittau Mountains all the way to Zittau itself. The entire “Saxon Low Mountain Range” route, designated as the “I-6” long-distance bike trail, spans approximately 500 kilometers. National cycling fun with international options Of these, 260 kilometers—exactly between Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and Schöneck in the Vogtland—feature consistent and continuous signage.
