A tour in the footsteps of the famous local poet and singer from Altenberg!
Embark on a special hike through the quiet, green forests of the Osterzgebirge - in the footsteps of Max Nacke, our local poet. The route takes you past places that inspired him and came to life in his poems: rushing streams, moss-covered areas and dreamy clearings. A hike that combines the enjoyment of nature and cultural heritage in a special way.

Start at Altenberger Bahnhof in the direction of Rehefelder Straße. Shortly afterwards, turn right onto Schellerhauer Weg. Follow this straight ahead, past the campsite and onto Viehtriftweg. Now turn left onto Galgenteichdamm. Continue past the soccer pitch and around the Raupennest health center on the right. Cross Rehefelder Straße and follow Sandbachweg. At the next junction, take a sharp left onto Flemmingweg. After approx. 200 m, continue right, straight ahead to the "Altes Raupennest" forest tavern. The traditional restaurant was built in 1924 by Max Nacke and was family-run for many years. It is now run by the Sender family and every year there are Hutzen evenings with Erzgebirge music. Then it's down the valley via the Raupennestweg back to the town. Follow Rathausstraße and continue along Dippoldiswalder Straße back to the starting point.

When the weather is nice, it's worth packing your swimsuit and taking a dip in the cool water at the Galgenteich natural pool.
