The route starts in the small town of Adorf, the home of the famous organ builder Trampeli. Worth seeing here is the original Miniature Exhibition Klein-Vogtland, where you can admire distinctive buildings of the Vogtland region in miniature. Right next to it is the botanical garden. The small museum in the Freiberger Gate behind the Adorf town hall houses an interesting exhibition on the native freshwater pearl mussel.
From Adorf, the route leads to Markneukirchen, a place known in Germany for over 300 years for masterful musical instrument making. Here is still the center of German orchestral instrument manufacture. For those who want to know more, a visit to the Musical Instrument Museum is recommended. With a collection of over 3,000 musical instruments, it offers a unique overview of the history of instrument making and also houses many curiosities. A detour to Wohlhausen is worthwhile to experience Hüttel's mechanical music instrument exhibition – pure nostalgia.
After the round passes Schöneck, the balcony of Vogtland, it continues towards Klingenthal, where harmonicas have been produced since 1829 and accordions since 1852. But the town is famous not only musically. Klingenthal also attracts international attention in winter sports, especially ski jumping. The Sparkasse Vogtland Arena with its modern ski jumping hill is definitely worth a visit. You can take the adventure railway up to the hill. The view from the futuristic observation capsule is simply breathtaking. The Music and Winter Sports Museum reports on both major Klingenthal traditions.
The journey continues to Zwota. Klingenthal's neighboring town also has a rich history in harmonica making. That is why the Harmonica Museum Zwota invites you to visit and displays an extensive collection ranging from mouth and hand harmonicas to electronic keyboard instruments. Afterwards, the route climbs up to 900 meters along the heights towards Erlbach, a small, family-friendly place with a great musical tradition. More than 30 crafts businesses for plucked, bowed, and wind instrument making are located here.
The next station is Landwüst. Here, the Vogtland Open-Air Museum offers a fascinating insight into the former structure and way of life of Vogtland villages and their inhabitants. And since not only music but also cycling works your legs, you can look forward to a relaxed finale of the route: the Saxon state baths Bad Brambach and Bad Elster.
