Monastery Care Tour

 We start the tour in Nebelschütz/ Njebjelčicy, at the parking lot next to the Heldhaus Hostel. Here you can park your car and first take a look at the town center of Nebelschütz. Through the Wendentor gate, you reach the festival square complex. Here you will find the "Customs House", the wood-fired oven and the "Feierscheune" (celebration barn). This area is managed by the Nebelschütz Homeland and Culture Association e.V. On request, culinary delights from the region and bread from the wood-fired oven are served. Also worth seeing are the dovecote, the small village park and the water play area for children.

You cycle along Gartenstraße to the end, turn left, and then right onto the main road. Here you follow the route of the Saxon City Route and turn right according to the signs towards Sandmühle. Passing the large sand ponds, you cycle to Deutschbaselitz. Passing the country inn, cross the main road and continue following the Krabat cycle path marker into the pond area.

Across the dam of Saxony's largest pond, the Deutschbaselitz Large Pond , you reach the forest pool and campsite by the large pond; the adventure camp is worth a stop. You leave the forest pool to the right and continue cycling on the Krabat cycle path to the Schwarze Elster river, where you turn right following the river. Following the path, you reach Milstrich. Here you continue straight through and come to Döbra. In Döbra, turn right at the intersection onto the Schwarze Elster cycle path, but leave it immediately and continue to the turn-off to Skaska. At the intersection, turn right following the Frog Cycle Path markers to Skaska. Passing the Nickel guesthouse, continue straight over the intersection to Liebegast. You continue on the Frog Cycle Path through forests and past ponds to Sollschwitz. Here you leave the Frog Cycle Path to the left and then immediately turn right. Crossing the Schwarze Elster on the parallel road to the main road, turn left to cycle along the edge of the forest.

You continue on the path to Kotten. Here, a detour to the nearby KRABAT Milk World is worthwhile. The show dairy welcomes your visit and shows you the production of the delicious KRABAT products.

Back on our route, cycle along the main road to Cunnewitz. At the intersection, turn right. Before leaving Cunnewitz, stop briefly at the Bienenhof Regina (www.bienenhof-regina.de). Following the road over the bridge, you reach Schönau, where at the intersection you meet the Frog Cycle Path markers again. Following the marker to the left, you pass the sports field and guesthouse, going through the Lasker Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve to Laske. At the main road, leave the Frog Cycle Path to the right and cycle following the Krabat Cycle Path and Sorbian Impressions markers along the Klosterwasser river, through meadows to Zerna.

From here, a detour to the Rosenthal Pilgrimage Church with Marian spring, said to have healing powers, is recommended. You continue following the Krabat Cycle Path and Sorbian Impressions markers to Dreihäuser, the home of the writer Jurij Brězan, and further to Räckelwitz. Here you can take a break, explore the chapel built in the Beuron style, and relax by the village pond with an island. 

Continue for another 900 m on the Krabat Cycle Path and Sorbian Impressions, then turn right towards Caseritz. Here you cross the main road and continue cycling, leaving the old brick barn on the left. Following the Krabat Cycle Path, Sorbian Impressions, and Saxon City Route markers, turn right to Panschwitz-Kuckau.

A visit to the Cistercian monastery St. Marienstern is worthwhile here. It is the only monastery still serving its original purpose. Visit the herb and educational garden and the treasury. The monastery church invites you to linger and reflect.

Along the Klosterwasser river, leave the Krabat Cycle Path and Saxon City Route markers to the left and cycle through the Lippe Park, past the monument of "Jakub Bart-Ćišinski", always following the flow of the Klosterwasser to Schweinerden. Leaving the main road to the right, you reach Cannewitz. Here you continue straight through the intersection to the "Ostroer Schanze" (Slavic ring wall fortification), which you should definitely visit. After the Schanze, turn right and continue through Ostro.

In the village, you encounter the hiking trail mark "blue line," the long-distance trail Ostsee-Saaletalsperren, which you follow to the main road. Here you meet the Saxon City Route again, which you follow to the left. Passing the motocross track Hahneberg , go through Kriepitz and continue on the Saxon City Route to Elstra. You cross the Schwarze Elster and immediately turn right, following the river past the Hainmühle to Prietitz. You continue on the Saxon City Route to the right and cycle past the "Prietitzer Schanze" through Thonberg. Here you cross the main road, continuing to follow the Saxon City Route markers, past the pig breeding facility to the starting point of the tour in Nebelschütz.
