The mining educational trail offers numerous opportunities with over 30 stations to get to know the beautiful "Greifenstein area" more closely over 13.7 km.
This educational trail is designed as a circular route and begins at the visitor mine "Zinngrube Ehrenfriedersdorf" on the Sauberg. One of the Purple Path - artworks on the occasion of the Cultural Capital Chemnitz 2025 is located here. From there, the path continues into the industrial area and then along the old narrow-gauge railway route to the Greifenbach valley. Along the Röhrgraben, it leads to the Greifenbach reservoir, which served as the oldest reservoir in Saxony for supplying the tin washing plants in the Greifenstein forest. Along the way, numerous witnesses of old mining are encountered, such as tunnel mouths and stamp mill ruins. With the ascent to the lookout rock of the Greifensteine, the view sweeps across the Ore Mountains. The Albin-Langer-Weg then leads further to Ehrenfriedersdorf, from where you return to Sauberg via the old miners' path "Lange Gasse."
