The circular route presents the 800-year history of the village of Kürbitz as well as geological and scenic information about it.
According to legend, the Kürbitz estate owner Jobst von Feilitzsch killed a lindworm that was wreaking havoc in the forests around Kürbitz and threatening the farmers. The fateful encounter between the dragon and the knight freed Kürbitz from its reign of terror but ended fatally for both. In honor of their savior, the villagers erected a particularly ornate tombstone for Knight Feilitzsch, with a relief showing the hero with sword and armor, the slain creature at his feet. This tombstone can still be seen today in the Salvator Church. The legend also remains a vivid part of the village culture. Those who want to follow the trail can go on a nearly six-kilometer-long Kürbitz lindworm path to search for clues.
