It's true, there are regions that are better known and their long-distance hiking trails as well. But that’s exactly what makes the appeal of the Kammweg. Whispering firs instead of big city noise, badger instead of Dax, and small towns instead of tourist hotspots. Good luck! Over 287 kilometers, the Kammweg crosses the Ore Mountains and the Vogtland. Whether you hike the entire route at once or just want to be on the trail for a few days – the Kammweg is an all-rounder! The Kammweg gave us the chance to also experience what we do. Badger instead of Dax – Get on and switch off, you can do that on the scenic Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland. Rare rock formations, blooming mountain meadows, shady forests, or refreshing stream valleys provide relaxed hiking enjoyment. On the way, you will also learn about extraordinary tradition and culture such as evidence of mining history, rare crafts, and steam railways.
Marking: The Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland is continuously marked with the blue crossbar and the lettering KAMM according to the guidelines for quality trails of the German Hiking Association.
Getting on and switching off also means – hiking and broadening your horizons – sometimes without a cell phone, no email reception, no stock market checks. On the Saxon-Bohemian mountain ridge, fox and hare say good night – because they still exist. Experience wildlife, untouched nature, exciting views in a surprisingly beautiful landscape – that's why hiking is so good here.
Note: On some stages, dining and overnight accommodation are only limited. Please check opening hours before your hike. We recommend backpack provisions for the trail. Local tourist information and the Erzgebirge and Vogtland tourism associations will gladly provide information. And if water runs out along the way, locals are happy to help.
