From the very beginning, artists in particular have been drawn to these picturesque rock formations. Follow in the footsteps of famous Romantic-era painters such as Caspar David Friedrich, Carl Gustav Carus, and Ludwig Richter. On this historic hiking trail, experience the fascinating rock landscape of the Elbe Sandstone Mountainsat its most picturesque. And enjoy the numerous sights along the way, such as the Canaletto town of Pirna or the house of the Impressionist painter Robert Sterl in Wehlen-Naundorf, as well as the many inviting restaurants along the trail.
