The starting point of the hike is Grünberg, Falkenauer Straße (car wash, above the Kuhstall) (or any other point in the town along the route description).
You walk along Falkenauer Straße towards Falkenau, then turn right into Gartenweg and follow it first straight ahead, then to the left. After a right turn, Gartenweg leads past the sports field onto the main street. (Those who want to walk past the Grünberg ponds can walk straight ahead along Gartenstraße instead of turning left and reach the main street directly, which leads to the ponds with a picnic spot)
You turn left onto the main street. Turn right into Wagnergasse and follow it until it leads back to the main street, on which you turn right again. Follow the main street to house number 57 ("Hafergrützmühle") - there follow the sign "Grünberger Rundweg" to the left off the main street and follow the path straight ahead. Then keep left uphill into the forest and follow the forest path. After a short time, you will pass the Kiefernteich and follow the sign to the right there.
At the next fork, walk straight ahead, continue straight ahead to the next intersection. Then turn left onto the wider firmer path. Follow this main path straight ahead until you come to a T-junction. Turn left there.
After a short time you can already see the Hetzdorfer Viaduct through the trees.
In front of the viaduct and the railway tracks, the "Grünberger Rundweg" leads left.
(Shortly after turning, a staircase leads up to the right, where you can walk on/over the bridge. If you want to return to the circular route from the bridge, instead of the staircase you can also go straight ahead for a short distance and then left - this shortens the way a little and then you turn right onto the hiking trail).
The path then leads relatively narrow and steep uphill through the forest. Always follow this path straight ahead until it meets a wider firmer path. There walk straight ahead and now always follow the main path straight ahead.
When you come out of the forest, you still have to walk a little way past the Agri-PV system before a fantastic view of Grünberg and Augustusburg opens up. At the next fork, walk left, then keep left again (always following the sign "Grünberger Rundweg"), then you reach the starting point again.
(Circular route also possible in the other direction)
Alternative route (without passing through the town/without main street):
The hike begins from the starting point in the other direction:
You leave Augustusburg behind and walk along Falkenauer Straße towards Falkenau, past the Kuhstall towards the forest and at the fork turn right - following the sign "Grünberger Rundweg". Then keep right again, again following the sign "Grünberger Rundweg". Now always straight ahead. You enter the forest and follow the path straight ahead until it makes a right curve. In this curve, you leave the main path and keep straight ahead.*
The path now leads partly relatively narrow and steep downhill through the forest. Always follow this path straight ahead until you reach the Hetzdorfer Viaduct in the valley. (Either follow a small path to the left that leads directly to the viaduct, or shortly afterwards a small staircase to the left uphill)
In front of the viaduct and before the railway tracks, the "Grünberger Rundweg" leads right onto a wider firmer path.
At the next fork/intersection, turn right.
Now follow the path straight ahead. At the next intersection, turn right, following the sign "Grünberg 2.9 km". Always follow this path; you come again to the corner where you left the path at the beginning of the hike. Now follow this main path to the left and then always straight ahead and you are already on the way back. You come out of the forest and past the Agri-PV system until you can enjoy a fantastic view of Grünberg and Augustusburg. At the next fork, walk left, then keep left again (always following the sign "Grünberger Rundweg"), then you reach the starting point again.
*With a stroller, follow the main path to the right here, then left and once again left and you will then reach the viaduct. (Return via the same way)
