This circular hiking route leads around the town of Auma.
Highlights are the beautifully restored postal milestone at the marketplace, the village ensemble with the pond in Merkendorf, the choir tower church of Wöhlsdorf, and the Orla spring just outside the gates of the town of Triptis. In the guesthouse "Zum Löwen" in Gütterlitz, you can enjoy typical Thuringian-Vogtland cuisine.

Starting from the marketplace in Auma, you reach the school observatory via Freybergstraße. Here begins the planet trail (green diagonal bar), which you follow over Lerchenberg and past Doggenteich pond to Merkendorf. Without a hiking mark, the side road leads via Piesignitz to Wöhlsdorf and Wiebelsdorf. Then it continues to Tischendorf (yellow bar) and past Braunsdorf, over federal road 2 and to the source ponds of the Orla.
Afterwards, you reach a forested area with the wind turbine park on the Hoschkau and shortly after the village of Gütterlitz. The hiking trail then leads to Untendorf (yellow dot) and through the Auma forest to Kesselsee. Shortly afterwards, turn left at Pfarteich and you return to the marketplace of Auma.
From Merkendorf or Piesigitz, a detour to the Weidatalsperre reservoir is worthwhile.
From the A 9 Berlin/Leipzig-Nuremberg take the Triptis exit and drive via the B 281 towards Gera until the junction Zeulenroda. After about 5 km you reach Auma.
