Freital, Bergmannsweg stop (Line F)
Rabenau Station
You take the city bus line F in Freital (boarding for example at the Deuben bus station) towards Dobritz/Kreischa to the Bergmannsweg stop. You walk towards Possendorf until you reach the town exit. Shortly afterwards, the hiking trail to Rabenau turns off to the right. After about 50 m, continue straight ahead. The hiking trail through the Poisenwald nature reserve leads through a primeval forest. After about 1 km, turn right onto a wide hiking trail and you will see the first rest opportunity, the 'Stone Table'. It used to be a resting place for electoral Saxon hunting parties. Every year on the first weekend in June, there is a choir singing event held there. From now on, follow the 'yellow dot' marking until you reach the road between Possendorf and Obernaundorf. There, keep right and follow a short section of the turning main road until the Market Trail (red dot) branches off half-left. On this ridge trail, you now hike to Rabenau. The parish lime tree on the outskirts invites you to pause. On the way, enjoy views of the Eastern Ore Mountains, the Landberg, the Lerchenberg (with attached mountain inn), and the Windberg. After reaching the city limits, continue straight ahead. Pass the water tower and school, then the path steadily descends. For flower lovers, a visit to the 'Flower Pictures' studio (Obernaundorfer Street – by appointment at telephone 0351 4601222) is recommended. The artist Angela Straßberger creates true works of art from various flower petals. The path continues over Kirchgasse, then turning right onto Quergasse leading to Freitaler Straße. A detour to the Chair Making Museum with its associated museum café is not to be missed. The postal milepost erected in 2013 on the market square is modeled after the Electoral Saxon postal milepost from 1730. Cross the street towards Weststraße (half-left) where the 'footpath to the station' is already shown at the house. Walk downhill to the small staircase and then further to Rabenau station (always follow red dot). Right by the station, the inns 'Zum Wanderer' and 'Rabenauer Mühle' invite you to rest from hiking. From there, the Weißeritztalbahn takes you back to Freital-Hainsberg, where bus or train can bring you back to the starting point of the route.
