The extremely charming Spree Valley route starts in Bautzen and can go as far as Grubschütz, Obergurig, or Schirgiswalde, depending on your preference. You take the same beautiful path back to Bautzen!

It is beautiful by the Spree at any time of year, and even in the hot summer many old trees provide shade along the cycle path. Starting in Bautzen, you soon pass the Spree baths and the Humboldthain, and could stop for refreshments in Grubschütz in the Spree Valley. Turning back here means you have covered about 9 km. If you continue, you soon reach Obergurig with the Old Water Mill, which, as a restaurant, also offers an outdoor beer garden in good weather. There is a lot to see regarding history here. After cycling up to the Bohemian Bridge from 1724, a hearty coffee and cake stop is possible at the "Kuchenhäusel", and sometimes they even have ice cream here!

Those who want to go further reach Großpostwitz, Rodewitz, and Kirschau, where the luxury hotel "Bei Schuhmann" and the castle ruin "Körse" invite you. The furthest point of our route is the small town of Schirgiswalde with charming half-timbered houses and a truly curious history - the town was once forgotten and had to govern itself for 40 years!

The same path leads us back to Bautzen, offering many new perspectives on the numerous sights along the way.
