The cycling route, approximately 81 km long, runs from Klingenthal through the Upper Vogtland and the Saxon State Spas, always along the Czech border to the tripoint at Prex.

The border cycle path starts near the 936-meter-high Aschberg. The local mountain of Klingenthal invites you to a panoramic view of the Saxon-Bohemian border region from the viewing tower at the top.

Then the route continues through Klingenthal and Erlbach. Klingenthal is an important music town and winter sports center in the region and attracts thousands of visitors to the "Sparkasse Vogtland Arena" with one of the most modern large ski jumps in Europe, especially during the ski jumping World Cup events and the summer ski jumping. A small railway leads up to the futuristic-looking ski jump tower, which offers a great view of the facility and the surrounding area. Quiet roads lead through the spa town of Erlbach to Wernitzgrün (with DDR museum) and Landwüst, where a visit to the open-air museum should be planned. Originally furnished – partly still operational – workshops of the village-typical crafts tell of the essential secondary occupation of the farmers.

Soon after, you reach Bad Brambach. This spa town is famous for its radon baths. The route then continues to Schönberg. An absolute must is visiting the castle with a stunning view far into Bohemia.

The next highlight on the route is the cultural and festival town Bad Elster. Bad Elster has been known for more than 150 years for its springs and its healing natural moor. Via Bärenloh, along diverse natural beauties, the route continues through the valley of the Tetterweinbach to the Arnsgrüner Höhe with a wide panoramic view.

Along the varied, natural landscape of the state borders between Saxony/Bavaria and the Czech Republic, the path leads past the border village Ebmath. The destination of the border cycle path is the state border to Bavaria in Wieden, a district of Eichigt, on the famous Iron Curtain Trail.

Tip: From the Aschberg, there is a connection to the ridge route, which continues eastwards to Altenberg-Geißing.
