4 - Mill tour Grünhainichen

The start is at Grünhainichen/Borstendorf station. We walk to the right in the direction of Rochhausmühle. From there, the trail climbs steeply uphill to Grünhainichen. At Marbacher Straße, we turn left into the village and walk to the open-air music box. It is magnificent and unique in its summer or winter version. After crossing the main road, past the advertising pillar, we walk down Mühlenstraße, past the Spanziehmühle mill to the Flöha river. Once we reach Mühlenplatz, a rest area invites us to have a picnic. Following the markings, we walk to the so-called swing bridge (now a covered wooden bridge) and cross it. The hike continues in the direction of Schwarzmühle. This is the site of the only former butter churn in Germany - run by Konrad Martin. Following the blue mill wheel, we cross a small wooden bridge, continue uphill, cross the Alte Börnichener Straße and reach the antenna system. Signposts lead us through the forest, to the left to the Waldkirchen circular trail and to the right on the nature trail back to Grünhainichen. Downhill through the Engeldorf Grünhainichen village with its many artisans and manufacturers, we can complete the loop. Continuing to the left, we cross the main road between Börnichen and Waldkirchen. Past the windmill, through beautiful meadows with a view of Zschopau, we reach our final destination, the Rollemühle, on the marked Wandwerweg down into the valley. Whitsun Monday, German Mill Day, is celebrated here together with the Blaufarbenwerkers. We continue over the Zschopa bridge to Waldkirchen railroad station.
