Whether in the theatre, puppet shows or on television - fairy tales are increasingly on the agenda, especially around Christmas time. This winter, the magical world of fairy tales has also found its way into the StadtMuseum Pirna.
Theatre figures from the Bautzen Puppet Theatre, animated film figures from the former DEFA animated film studio in Dresden and from HylasTrickfilm Dresden show the inspiration that fairy tales exert on the artistic design of puppets. The StadtMuseum Pirna is also receiving another loan from the well-known puppeteer Karla Wintermann. The stage designed by Gottfried Reinhardt with the figures of Martina Großer and Karla Wintermann takes the visitor to Sleeping Beauty in Weesenstein. At the large fairytale mountain by Ingrid Möller, which the StadtMuseum Pirna received as a gift last year, children can test their knowledge in a quiz.
The German Institute for Animated Film, administrator of the estate of the DEFA animation film studio, is lending the StadtMuseum Pirna several film strips, which can be seen during the exhibition period. There will be a reunion with old puppet animation films such as "Die Weihnachtsgans Auguste", "Zwerg Nase" and "Der Froschkönig".
