From Bad Köstritz to Dresden: The 28th Heinrich Schütz Music Festival will take place from 2 to 12 October 2025.
A kaleidoscope of compositional diversity and interpretative variance will allow the sound cosmos of Heinrich Schütz and his contemporaries to shine in a special way at the original Schütz locations in Central Germany.
Every October, the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival places the works of the early Baroque master and his contemporaries at the centre of a multifaceted programme. The Musikfest 2025 from 2 to 12 October 2025 explores the intersections and points of resonance between the world of the 17th century and the present day. At the centre of the concerts are attempts to give order to a world that is perceived as chaotic.
As artist in residence Gregor Meyer, as ensemble director, organist and composer, will musically explore diverse world views in variety and artistic mastery together with Ensemble 1684 and musicians from the Gewandhaus Choir. In addition to the music of Sagittarius, the residence concerts in Weißenfels and the other Musikfest venues will include works by Johann Rosenmüller and Claudio Monteverdi, as well as contemporary composers such as Lucia Ronchetti. The Hathor Consort, Hana Blažíková and Bruce Dickey, the Windsbacher Knabenchor, the Utopia Ensemble, La Ninfea and Capella de la Torre have also been invited to the music festival.
