Exhibition MELTING POTT"

W skrócie

Photographs of people, machines and how they interact above and below ground

Jazz musician Till Brönner has also made a name for himself as a photographer. A few years ago, he traveled to the Ruhr area and portrayed the former mining and industrial region. You can see miners with coal-smeared faces at the end of their shift and smoking chimneys towering into the sky, bathed in an unreal yellow light. The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz has now invited Brönner to the Purple Path art and sculpture trail for a double portrait, as musician and photographer, and has compiled 62 works, mostly black and white photographs, from the 200-plus images in the Duisburg exhibition to create a new show. The selection of images concentrates on the work and leisure time of miners and steelworkers, on children and a few large-format Ruhrpott architectures. The exhibition venue is the miners' washhouse in the former Oelsnitz coal mine, the recently opened KohleWelt - Museum Steinkohlenbergbau Sachsen.

The opening of the special exhibition "Melting Pott" will take place on April 13 at 5 p.m.. To mark the occasion, Till Brönner will perform a unique concert "Music around the Steigerlied" together with bassist Dieter Ilg and drummer Günter "Baby" Sommer in the Oelsnitz town hall at 7 p.m. The concert will be the grand finale of the three-day opening of the Purple Path and will take place in the former cultural palace of the Oelsnitz miners, the "Kulturhaus Hans Marchwitza". Admission is free
