The Sandstone and Music Festival takes place at carefully selected venues whose scenic and architectural charm is captivating. Often located in the heart of Saxon Switzerland, they offer visitors a musical experience in the most beautiful harmony with the surroundings against a unique sandstone backdrop. Churches such as those in Königstein, Papstdorf and Dohna, Pirna, Liebstadt, Lohmen and Lauenstein are just as much a part of this as Weesenstein Castle and Stolpen Castle, Rammenau Baroque Castle and Großsedlitz Baroque Garden. Music, culture and nature merge into one work of art.
This year's festival takes place from 25 March to 10 December 2023 already for the 31st time with a wide variety of events. The variety ranges from chamber concerts, orchestral performances, literary evenings, lectures and film evenings to jazz concerts, participatory concerts, Advent concerts and performances by the young.
