At the starting point of the cycle tour in the silver town of Freiberg, visit St. Mary's Cathedral (at Untermarkt), the terra mineralia mineral exhibition in Freudenstein Castle or the Reiche Zeche silver mine. Leave Freiberg in the direction of Halsbrücke, turn right to Tuttendorf, follow the narrow path on the left behind the railroad tracks along the Mulde to Halsbrücke and follow the Mulde on quiet side roads to Großschirma (OT Rothenfurth).
Tour A for loaded cyclists (red route): 400 m after crossing the Mulde in Rothenfurth, turn right at the "Agrargenossenschaft Großschirma" junction, then after 500 m turn left and cycle to Großvoigtsberg. After about 400 m, turn left onto the main road towards Kleinvoigtsberg, where the Mulde cycle path signposting begins (continue towards Obergruna).
Tour B for sporty cyclists (from Rothenfurth to Kleinvoigtsberg - not shown on the map): At the entrance to Großschirma, sporty cyclists follow the path to the right of the Mulde, which becomes forest and meadow paths in beautiful natural surroundings. The "Grabentour" nature reserve begins at a wooden bridge. In Hohentanne, take the "Muldenweg" along the Mulde. In Kleinvoigtsberg, turn left up into the village, where the Mulde cycle path signposting begins on the main road. Mining installations from times long past line the route, e.g. in Obergruna.
Tour A and Tour B meet again in Kleinvoigtsberg. From there, follow the Mulde cycle path signs to Obergruna and, after around 9 km, cross the main road S 195 at the customs house (Siebenlehn/Hirschfeld fork) and follow the Mulde on the left for 11 km. Passing a factory site and later under a huge viaduct, you reach Nossen with its castle and the ruins of the Altzella monastery.
